Rhode Island’s capitol, in Providence, was the sixth capitol I photographed. As Rhode Island is close to my home in Massachusetts I’ve visited this capitol on a number of occasions. It’s an impressive building, especially given Rhode Island’s status as the country’s smallest state. The dome is the world’s fourth largest stone dome, and it towers over much of Providence itself. The rest of the building is equally stately, with an interior that relies well on natural light and offers a lot of good photographic potential. This set also features a photo of Rhode Island’s former capitol, also in Providence. These photos were taken over several trips, from September 2012 to August 2022.
